Privacy Policy

This policy explains how The KillerEdge collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website and platform. We are committed to handling your data lawfully and transparently in line with UK data protection law.

1. Who we are

The KillerEdge is operated by David Sessford, a sole trader trading as "The KillerEdge" ("we", "us", "our"), based in Blaydon, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller responsible for your personal data.

2. The information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details. Your name (optional) and email address when you register, and a password (which we store in encrypted/hashed form, never in plain text).
• Membership & billing. Your subscription status and history. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details.
• Communications. The content of any messages or enquiries you send us.
• Marketplace activity. If you use the members' marketplace: your listings (site, prices, notes), your orders, the messages you exchange with other members, any listing reports you submit, the backlinks you mark as claimed, and the PayPal payment link you choose to display to buyers.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage data. Pages you visit and actions you take on the platform.
• Technical data. Your IP address (and approximate location), browser and device type, and similar information collected via cookies.

2a. The blog owner directory

Our members' marketplace includes a directory of blogs and websites that publicly invite guest-post and outreach enquiries. Each entry lists the website and a business contact email that the site owner has already published publicly on their own site for this purpose. Access is restricted to logged-in paying members, reveals are rate-limited and logged, and the information is provided only so members can make direct, relevant outreach. If you own a listed site and would like your entry corrected or removed, email david@thekilleredge.com or use the "Request removal" link on the listing, and we will action it promptly.

3. How and why we use your information

We only use your personal data where the law allows us to. The lawful bases we rely on under the UK GDPR are:

• To provide your account and membership. Necessary for the performance of our contract with you.
• To take payment and manage your subscription. Performance of a contract and compliance with legal obligations.
• To keep the platform secure and prevent fraud or abuse. Our legitimate interests.
• To respond to your enquiries. Our legitimate interests and/or performance of a contract.
• To send service emails (receipts, password resets, important account or service notices). Performance of a contract.
• To send marketing emails (such as our newsletter). Only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To meet our legal and accounting obligations. Compliance with a legal obligation.

4. Payments

All card payments are handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. When you pay, your card details are submitted directly to Stripe and are not stored on our systems. We receive limited information from Stripe such as your name, email, the last four digits of your card and your payment/subscription status. Stripe processes your data under its own privacy policy. See stripe.com/privacy.

Marketplace payments are different: when you buy a placement from another member, you pay that member directly via their own PayPal. We do not process, hold or receive those payments. PayPal handles your data under its own privacy policy.

5. Cookies and third-party services

We use a small number of essential cookies needed to log you in and keep your session secure. Some third-party services we use may also set cookies or receive limited data when you use our site, including: Stripe (checkout and fraud prevention), Vimeo (our tour video), Google Fonts and our content delivery network (for fonts and styling).

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that blocking essential cookies may prevent you from logging in or completing a purchase.

6. Who we share your information with

We share personal data only where necessary, with:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf. For example Stripe (payments), our website hosting provider, and our email delivery provider.
• Other members. When you buy or sell in the marketplace, the member you transact with sees your username/display name, your listing details and the messages you send them. They do not see your email address.
• Authorities or third parties where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, users or others.
• A buyer or successor in the event we sell or transfer the business.

We do not sell your personal data.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers (such as Stripe) may process your data outside the UK or European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards. Such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses. To ensure your data is protected to UK standards.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal data for as long as you hold an account with us and for as long as needed for the purposes set out above. Billing and accounting records are kept for as long as required by law (generally six years). After that, we delete or anonymise your data.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access your data; have inaccurate data corrected; have your data erased; restrict or object to our processing; data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, email david@thekilleredge.com.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data: passwords are stored hashed, the site is served over HTTPS, and payments are handled by Stripe. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

The KillerEdge is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
